May 4th was my son, Jack’s 13th birthday. I shot this image on May 1st, which was also the 3rd anniversary of my dad's passing. I set up my make-shift studio and had a go of it. I felt the need to shoot. Missing my dad, I needed to keep my mind busy and wanted to do something positive and productive. And, I wanted a picture to commence Jack’s birthday; his milestone birthday into teenage hood. For me, it conveys all the mixed feelings and emotions I have about Jack and my dear dad.
